The Inaugural Tour of Oak Brook is now in the record books. In the Pro 1-2 race, the male winner was Scott Pearson from Club Bicicletta. The Pro 1-2-3 women winner was Kristen Meshberg of Flatlandia Cycling Team. The other notable winners in all the other categories are too many to list here but they are among the very best competitive cyclists in the State of Illinois, as this was the Illinois State Championship Road Race.

The Village of Oak Brook and many of the neighborhoods and business have been very supportive of this event. Oak Brook is a beautiful community that has special character. We got to know many of the residents along the race course. Some of them came out and enjoyed the race with the racers. We had a number of kids’ races and if you find the photos, nearly every one of the kids is smiling as they raced their bikes.

Cycling is fun and something most people can do. Cycling is a healthy and environmentally friendly way to get around. The Village of Oak Brook has made cycling easy by having a fantastic network of trials throughout the community. The Village has shown a positive vision with the support they've provided to The Tour of Oak Brook and cycling in general. We encourage everyone to pull out their old bikes, dust them off and start to join in on the fun. That next shopping trip to the mall could be on your bike. Try it once, and you'll do it again and again. Then someday you may want to take that next step and try a race. If The Tour of Oak Brook acts as your inspiration, then we've done our job well.
